College Dorm Kit
The Como College Dorm Kit Program is designed to assist students in their transition to campus life by providing essential items needed for dorm living. Each kit includes a variety of supplies, such as bedding, toiletries, snacks, and study materials, ensuring that students have the necessary tools to settle into their new environment comfortably.
This program aims to ease the adjustment process for students by offering practical support and resources as they embark on their academic journey. In 2024, the program received applications from 30 students, reflecting a growing need for this type of assistance in the community. The number of applicants is increasing, highlighting the program’s importance in supporting students during this significant time. The kits are available to students who may benefit from additional assistance during this important transition.
Celebrating Our 2026 College Dorm Kit Program
On Friday, August 7, 2026, Como Lions Heart proudly hosted our annual College Dorm Kit Program Luncheon at the Como Community Center, celebrating and supporting the next chapter for 26 incoming college freshmen.
Because of the generosity of our supporters, donors, partners, volunteers, and community members, these students were able to receive much more than dorm supplies. From laptops and essential college necessities to items that will help make their new spaces feel like home, we were honored to help prepare each student as they begin this exciting journey into higher education.

The Como Lions Heart College Dorm Kit Program is an award-winning program because it is about so much more than filling a dorm room. It is about recognizing the hard work it took for a student to reach this milestone. It is about understanding the financial responsibility that comes with sending a child to college. It is about making sure our young people leave home knowing that their community sees them, supports them, and believes in what they can become.
What makes this program special is the heart behind it.
It takes months of planning, fundraising, shopping, organizing, donating, volunteering, and people coming together with one purpose: to help our students succeed. Every laptop, every dorm item, every contribution, and every detail represents someone who cared enough to invest in a young person's future.
